LADOGA — Claude C. Harshbarger, 91, died Tuesday morning in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville. He had been in failing health for the past 10 months. Mr. Harshbarger owned and operated the Claude C. Harshbarger Cement Products Co. in Ladoga from 1906 until 1956 when he sold the business. The company made ornamental objects and vases, cement blocks and burial vaults. He was known as a pioneer in the manufacture of cement products. He was a member of the Ladoga Church of the Brethern; a charter member of the Lions Club, of which he had served as president; was on the town board for 12 years, and had served as superintendent of the Montgomery County Christian Education Association. He was born April 14, 1880, in Ladoga, the son of Oliver Willard and Elizabeth Morgan Harshbarger. He married Ruth Conner at Danville, Ill., Oct. 2, 1935. Survivors include the widow; two half sisters, Mrs. Paul Hedge of Lebanon and Mrs. Jay Revis of Lansing, Mich., and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. C. L. Heiny, and one brother, John. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, at the Perkins Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Ladoga Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday afternoon.
